[Audio] Good morning respected teachers, dear students, and honored guests, Today, I am going to speak about a very important and fascinating topic — the Indian Knowledge System, popularly known as IKS. The Indian Knowledge System refers to the rich, diverse, and time-tested body of knowledge that has been developed in India over thousands of years. It is not limited to just one field, but includes a wide range of disciplines such as philosophy, science, mathematics, astronomy, medicine, agriculture, art, and spirituality. Our ancient scholars and sages contributed immensely to human civilization. For example, India gave the concept of zero in mathematics, advanced knowledge of astronomy, and holistic healing systems like Ayurveda. These contributions were not only scientific but also deeply connected with ethics, sustainability, and the overall well-being of society. IKS is unique because it focuses on the holistic development of an individual — balancing the mind, body, and soul. It emphasizes values such as harmony with nature, respect for all living beings, critical thinking, and lifelong learning. In today's modern world, where technology and rapid change dominate our lives, the Indian Knowledge System provides timeless wisdom that helps us stay grounded, make ethical decisions, and lead meaningful lives. It bridges the gap between traditional knowledge and modern applications. Understanding IKS is not just about looking into the past, but also about learning how to apply this knowledge in the present and future for sustainable development and global well-being. With this objective in mind, Pratibha College of Commerce and Computer Studies, Department of Commerce, has organized a Guest Lecture on Indian Knowledge System on 31st July 2025. This session aims to introduce students to the fundamentals of IKS and help them appreciate the depth and relevance of our rich cultural and intellectual heritage. We are privileged to have an esteemed guest speaker who will guide us through this insightful topic.
